10 Best Paramore Songs - Ranked
1. Ignorance - Brand New Eyes (2009)
As great as ‘Playing God’ is, it’s the first single from Brand New Eyes that showcases Paramore at their best.
Whilst it would be wrong to describe Paramore as a heavy band, ‘Ignorance’ certainly doesn’t hold back in terms of its aggression. Indeed, the crunchy opening chords essentially set the tone for the remainder of the song.
Even when the track dips in volume, the intensity lingers owing to the angst-ridden vocal delivery which addresses the rising tensions in the band. The chorus brings such a theme to a climax both lyrically and instrumentally to create one of Paramore’s best and most aggressive hooks.
The intensity then continues into the bridge, the first half of which features short and detached power chords alongside some thunderous drums. The solo that follows – though very simple – works perfectly within the context of the song.
‘Ignorance’ is certainly heavier than the typical Paramore song. Yet the song remains their most accomplished work because of the way it balances a consistently aggressive tone with a varied vocal delivery and a dynamic instrumental.
