10 Classic Albums That NO ONE CARED ABOUT
9. RAM - Paul McCartney
Whenever you have a humungous band call it quits, fans are usually chomping at the bits to see what they do next. As far as the Beatles were concerned, that's pretty much what happened after all, with George Harrison scoring some hits with All Things Must Pass and John Lennon having a bit of an odd career trajectory with his wife Yoko Ono as his new creative partner. People weren't treating Paul McCartney's RAM with the same attention though...they were treating it like a funeral dirge.
Making a pastoral record about living in the country, this was the moment where a lot of McCartney fans felt that he had totally lost his way, having the gall to even let Linda McCartney share writing credits and sing on the record. There was even some backlash from his fellow Beatles, with Ringo Starr complaining that he didn't even think there was one good tune on the record.
As time has gone on though, Paul has proved to have been on to something with this, seeing how this kind of approach is the bread and butter of what happens in indie pop nowadays. And come on...it's not like something like Monkberry Moon Delight was that out of left field considering the slew of weird acts coming out at the time. Over time, McCartney has said that RAM looks a lot better in context, so who are we to argue?
