10 Deep-Cut Alice Cooper Songs Every Rock Fan Should Check Out

1. Halo Of Flies

Pretty much any track from Killer could have topped this list, but despite how flawless that album is, Halo of Flies is easily one of the best rock songs to come out of the seventies. This one is cheating slightly, as it was briefly released as a single in the Netherlands, but outside of that the song is seldom seen or heard outside of sporadic appearances in Cooper's stage show.

An almost eight-and-a-half minute long epic that details the exploits of a Bond-esque spy and his quest to 'smash Halo of Flies'. Despite the song's intimidating length, its prog-rock leanings and energetic performance make it pass in an instant. it's a song that constantly shifts gears and moods, all culminating in a gloriously arranged instrumental piece that builds to a breathtaking crescendo.

Written as a means of showing that Alice Cooper had the musical chops to back up their outrageous image and stage-show, Halo of Flies is an astonishing display of everything the original Alice Cooper band was capable of, showcasing each of their individual talents in magnificent fashion.

Even if you're just a casual admirer of Alice Cooper, you owe it to yourself to listen to this song.
