10 Great Bands With One Terrible Album
8. Simulation Theory - Muse
Okay, so maybe it might seem unfair to put an album that barely has 5 years under its belt on a list like this. When you look at bad albums, it's only really in hindsight, and that seems like far too short a timespan to really call this a terrible album. If we were to make an exception, even some hardcore Muse fans could probably agree that Simulation Theory belongs on a list like this.
First of all, this is one of the few times where Muse has seemed super behind the times. At least when they made their forays into dubstep on the 2nd Law, you had the sense that it was still coming from a genuine place. Since the last few years have been known to have a throwback '80s feel to it, this entire album shows Muse taking us on a nostalgia trip that we didn't want to go on, especially when hooking up with producers for songs like Propaganda and Break It To Me.
This is by no means a dealbreaker for Muse fans though. Out of all of the questionable songs on here, there are still some tracks like Get Up and Fight and singles like Something Human that remind us of the weird artistic rock band that we fell in love with on Black Holes and Revelations. Just next time you go into the studio, just try not to take all of your cues from the soundtrack to Stranger Things, eh?
