10 Greatest Classic Rock Bands Of All Time

1. The Rolling Stones

While there will always be debate as to which band or artist is the greatest of all time, there is no doubting the Stones are right in the conversation. While the band has had its share of changes to their lineup across the years, the constant has always been the classic songwriting duo of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Incredibly the two only produced several original tracks for each of the Stones first three albums, with the move away from predominantly covers coming with the monster success of the Out of Our Heads album, featuring classic hits Satisfaction and Play with Fire.

The band's longevity has become the stuff of legend, producing no less than 23 top 5 albums and countless top 40 hits spanning to this very day. The Stones didn't take any shortcuts to stay relevant (Bee Gees were looking at you), continuing to refine their music with an infusion of a variety of music styles, including blues and R&B, to compliment their rock stylings.

From Jagger's swagger to Keith Richards iconic riffs, the Stones have been the definition of consistent excellence. While they have always been considered the bad boys of rock, their singles have always had heart, from the exploration of depression on Paint it Black or the pained strains of broken hearts on Angie and Ruby Tuesday. There really is little doubt, they are the greatest Rock band of all time.
