10 Most Underrated Foo Fighters Songs
1. But Honestly - Echoes Silence Patience and Grace
Being a drummer first, Dave Grohl knows more than a thing or two about the importance of dynamics. Instead of just spending most of the song just bashing away on the drums, it's better to ebb and flow to give the entire track a sense of movement so the audience stays engaged. When Dave decided to bring it home though, he made for one of the most epic songs of the entire '00s rock scene.
After starting off with a barnburner on The Pretender, Echoes Silence Patience Grace has its last big bang with But Honestly, which starts off incredibly subdued. With the acoustic guitar strumming away and Dave singing in his middle register, you'd think that it would just stay this way for the entire track, but the best part doesn't even come until the halfway point.
As Taylor Hawkins builds on the drums and the electric guitars come in, the final minute and a half of this song is probably one of the best instrumentals that the Foo Fighters have ever made, with a killer guitar riff and nonstop energy bringing you to the finale. Up until this point, the Foo Fighters were already a great band that had earned their credentials as the kings of rock and roll. With this one song though, they weren't just another great band. They had hit their arena stage and things were about to get massive.
