10 Most Underrated Rock Albums Of The 90s

2. Angel Dust - Faith No More

The entire allure of Faith No More in the early days was just how much they didn't fit into any singular style. Though you can definitely see similarities in other alternative bands of the time like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, there was absolute no way to tell what Mike Patton and the boys were going to come up with next. And after The Real Thing brought them mainstream success, they earned the right to get even more weird on Angel Dust.

So what did they end up doing? Just about god damn everything. Throughout most of this record, you can see the cornucopia of influences that these guys are drawing from, whether it be the heaviness of metal or the off the wall craziness of something like Frank Zappa. One minute you'll be listening to a song that could have easily come off of a Chili Peppers joint, and then they'll hit you with a riff that seems to be the son of a Metallica song.

And they even pull off a lowkey ballad with a cover of the Commodores' Easy, because why the hell not? The tonal consistency of this record might be a little bit scattered to say the least, but it's that weirdness that gives it its charm. Out of all the other albums on this list, this is the one that may have influenced thousands of musicians, letting them know that it's okay to wear all of your influences on your sleeve. Even if some of them might be a little bit strange.
