10 Overrated Rock Music Acts Of The 2010s
7. Bastille
It's a sad state of affairs when Billboard are willing to nominate a song like Pompeii for best rock song of 2015... But this was the epitome of what constituted rock music in the mainstream, during the 2010s.
This was pop rock at its most irritating. There was a period when you couldn't escape Bastille, they seemed to permeate every facet of day to day life with an unrelenting persistence that made you yearn for the days of Nickelback's Rockstar.
Their popularity may be more understandable if it wasn't for the fact that every one of their hits sounds like a carbon copy of what they released previously. It's that same chord progression, with the same airy vocals preaching cliched and tired old concepts, before a monotonous pop chorus breaks out.
As we enter the new decade there doesn't seem to be any letting up from these guys. With their recent single on the verge of hitting a million views on YouTube, the world isn't done elevating this kind of music above artists that are less reliant on formulaic dross.
