10 Rock Songs That Are A Nightmare To Sing
2. More Than a Feeling - Boston
In the early days of AM rock radio, a lot of the best voices at the time weren't necessarily powerhouses. Considering that a lot of the hard rock at the time was nowhere near the Top 40, stuff like the Captain and Tenille were by no means on the same level as the greats that we heard just a few decades before. So to have Boston come out of nowhere with Brad Delp managed to shatter more than a few glasses at the time.
Although the era of high rock singers wasn't that new of a thing, Delp's singing on More than a Feeling almost goes beyond rock altogether, as he manages to top himself with every single line he sings. While you already get a little taste of what he can do in the choruses, the real magic comes towards the middle of the song, as he reaches for higher and higher notes before the guitar solos without losing any power in his voice.
It even manages to get on the level of superhuman when we get to the last few screams, where he manages to harmonize with the lead guitar line. For as much as some singers might like to take the listener into weird sonic territory, Brad Delp might mark the moment where you can't tell the difference between the human voice and a guitar.
