12 Unbelievably Underrated Beatles Tracks
1. Savoy Truffle (The Beatles "The White Album")
It is no secret that George Harrison's songwriting skills have been criminally overlooked over the last few decades. Thankfully, things are starting to change, but he'll never be as respected as the mighty Lennon/McCartney duo.
"Savoy Truffle" is another underrated Harrison classic that was dismissed due to its nonsensical lyrics and sweet-sounding nature. To be fair the song is about Harrison's Pal, Eric Clapton, and his constant toothache as a result of eating too many sweets, but that's exactly what it makes it great.
Plus, it also gives Harrison space to get back to what he does best, smashing out that guitar of his. In fact, "Savoy Truffle" was Harrison's way of integrating his guitar back into his music after taking two years off to study the Indian sitar. As a result, we get a bashing of rhythm and blues that lets us know just how musically talented Harrison really was.
The song also has a wondrous horn section that serves as an inspiration to Harrison's later work.
