6 Things To Expect From Ed Sheeran's Second Album

1. More Than Just A Guitar

In an early interview following the success of +, Sheeran was reported to say that his second album would follow on from the instrumental feel of Give Me Love, the last track on +, expanding on his earlier man-with-a-guitar way of playing. This was confirmed more recently, with Sheeran telling Rolling Stone that Rick Rubin had advised him to record the album "completely acoustic", then adding the instrumentation later. So there'll be instrumentation, eh? This adds to the evidence of Sheeran's track for The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, I See Fire, featuring a strings section as well as Sheeran's layered vocals and guitar, although this song will not be featuring on the album. But don't expect a whole orchestra, especially since Sheeran will probably want to continue to play shows mostly alone with his guitar and loop pedal, as he has previewed his new tracks like this, as well as playing I See Fire live at the Royal Albert Hall in this way. With all of this evidence, Ed Sheeran's second album is definitely worth a lot of excitement, featuring the same successful backbone of + while building on Sheeran's experiences and growth since 2011 when he was just 20 years old. Will we see a release or simply an announcement on April 7th? Only Sheeran's people know that for now, but whatever we hear it will undoubtedly be brilliant news! Do you have any other predictions for the new album? Let us know in the comments.
