2. Lex Fridman – Episode 1422

With all the terrifying warnings about AI floating around in the computer engineering world, Lex Fridman is the guy to go to if you're looking for a slightly more optimistic outlook for the future.

The Elon Musks of the world might have you believe that if we don't drastically alter the course of where AI is headed soon, we might become the biological meat slaves to robotic overlords.

Fridman is an optimist in every sense of the word. His whole deal is about embracing the everyday little things that make this reality such an amazing and unlikely phenomena. If only we could put aside our obsession with day-to-day tedium, perhaps we might enjoy the present. He pioneers the notion of fully open and honest debate that comes from a place of mutual humanity rather than getting bogged down in differences, and he takes this approach with his work in AI.

If our future is to one day have intelligent machine overlords, then this is the guy you want creating their predecessors. Who doesn't like the idea of all-loving machines running our lives? It's a more comfortable notion then having certain politicians running the world for us...

Having said that, Fridman does dress an awful lot like one of the Agents from The Matrix, so maybe his positive spin is merely a way to lure us dumbass humans into taking the blue pill and letting the machines slowly take control...
