6. Cockpits
The next few items (#6, #5, #4, and #3) will focus on Joe technology. The H. A. V. O. C. vehicle illustrates my first point perfectly - the cockpit. This is where the operators of the vehicle sit. Kind of important. If the driver gets killed, the vehicle stops moving. If the gunner gets killed, the vehicle stops firing. The H. A. V. O. C. gunner of the dual 75mm recoilless cannons is basically sitting in a suicide chair. He's strapped onto the very top of the vehicle without a shred of armor or protection. You might as well paint a bullseye target on him. And who is sitting in this seat - why it's only the supreme commander of GI Joe himself, General Hawk of course! It's amazing that GI Joe doesn't suffer catastrophic casualties with each battle. They're amazingly lucky that Cobra spends its money on a space mission and pogo-powered terror pods rather than just training 5 snipers. They'd decimate the entire roster of Joe in about 45 seconds. Head shot. Head shot. Head shot. Game over. Should I even point out that the actual pilot of the vehicle is sitting behind safety glass? I'm sure that's a great comfort to him with incoming uranium-depleted rounds.
