1. See It Before It Becomes A Movie
Matt Stone and Trey Parker recently started their own production outfit, Important Studios. Not only will this give them more control over South Park, but it means they can now produce their own films. Talk inevitably turned to a movie version of The Book of Mormon, something the duo have hinted that they'd like to do. I have no doubt they will do an amazing job converting the material into a movie, but really, you should go see this in a theater. The cast are so brilliant I truly can't imagine who would play them in the movie version. Seeing the effort that everyone has gone into with the production of this musical is a must; everyone does a perfect job and some of the gags work so well with a live audience that they may not translate into a movie as nicely as they do in a full stage environment. There's something special about seeing all the events unfold with the fairly simple backgrounds and lack of any kind of special effects. The Book of Mormon is as much a mockery of musicals as it is a mockery of religion, so translating that element into a movie will obviously have to be handled in a careful manner to preserve some of the humour. If you haven't seen The Book Of Mormon yet I can't recommend it enough. It's fun, it's witty and the music is very special. It's clear there's a lot of passion for everything about this production. If you've seen it, what was your favourite part? Let me know in the comments.
