7 Ridiculous Harry Potter Moments That Are Only In The Books

Before the final of the Quidditch World Cup begins, the mascots for each team are presented to the crowd. The Bulgarian team (which includes Viktor Krum) bring a group of Veela – semi-human, magical beings who resemble beautiful women.

Harry and the Weasley brothers are soon enchanted by the power of the Veela. But rather than sitting back and enjoying their performance, Harry completely loses his mind. With the hope of impressing the dancing Veela, he tries to jump from the top of the stadium.

If it wasn’t for Hermione’s intervention, the fall would have killed him instantly. Why he thought jumping onto the pitch would be a good way to win the Veela's favour is anyone’s guess. And there’s never any explanation about the nature of the Veela’s power either. Do they always make people crazy, or was Harry’s reaction an exception? If the former is true, it seems strange to bring such dangerous beings to a Quidditch match.

Whatever the explanation, Harry’s attempt to jump from the top of the Quidditch stadium is one of the most ridiculous moments in the entire series.
