Of all the mysteries to be solved by sleuths on Reddit, the identification of a human skeleton discovered more than a decade before the internet was even a thing has to be among the most fascinating.

In 1975 three boys exploring the local woods in Strongsville, Ohio came across a skeleton and immediately informed local authorities. The police were able to determine that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and that the body belonged to a white woman around age 20 but little more could be ascertained about the deceased.

That was until Christina Scates began uploading her findings regarding the case to r/UnsolvedMysteries and another online forum, Web Sleuths. From there, an artist named Carl Koppelman created a reconstruction of what the deceased may have looked like based on images of the skull. The reconstruction ultimately bore a strong resemblance to Linda Pagano, a woman who had been reported missing in 1974. DNA testing would later confirm that the unidentified remains were indeed those of Linda Pagano.
