8 Fast Food Sandwiches That Were Likely Created On A Dare

1. Double Down

As if anything else could fill the number one slot. This is about as infamous as fast food abominations get. In the midst of their competitors offering healthier, non-meat options, KFC went the other direction, offering meat on top of meat on top of cheese on top of meat. Their mission statement? We are Kentucky Friend Chicken and we will be responsible for killing you someday! The Double Down contains 540 calories and twice the cholesterol of a Big Mac. Essentially, what you're doubling down on is your daily sodium intake. It was introduced hot on the heels of the Atkins Diet, which encouraged low-carb foods and completely disavowed bread, so the Double Down looked ideal (of course, the chicken itself has tons of breading on it, but a little detail like that shouldn't get it in the way of being "healthy." And yes, those exaggerated quotes are entirely necessary). Frighteningly enough, KFC recently re-introduced the sandwich due to popular demand. Way to go, consumers. You really know how to make well-informed decisions.
