5. Kristen Schaal
Kristen Schaal is the Enron of female comedians, in that at a young age, she’s already too big to fail. Also, she’d never make the mistake of telling a super-dated Enron joke. But seriously, Kristen has more projects than there are hours in the day. Thankfully she doesn’t have to fulfill them all in one sitting.
Following her standout performance as Mel on Flight of the Conchords back in the aughts, Kristen and her shrill, but not too shrill, voice has developed quite the career. Not only does she excel at voice over with roles in Bob’s Burgers, Gravity Falls, Bojack Horseman, and the Toy Story movies, she’s also done quite well in front of the camera on such shows as 30 Rock and The Last Man on Earth.
In her spare time she shares her absurdist stories at comedy clubs across the country. And while everyone may not “get” her, a true absurdist finds victory in winning over one in a room of 1000.
