10 Footballers Totally Wasted At Their Clubs
7. Xherdan Shaqiri (Stoke)
When Xherdan Shaqiri was announced as a new signing at Stoke, it seemed like a great deal for the Potters, and a good stepping stone for Shaqiri on his way to bigger things. The muscular winger had spent time at Bayern Munich but was hoping to get more games under his belt, and moving to a mid-table Premier League club seemed like a smart decision.
Now, a few years later, Shaqiri is still at Stoke and should really be making a move sooner rather than later. One of the stars of an impressive Swiss national side, Shaqiri has the strength, pace, and technique required to succeed at a bigger club, and he’s simply too good to be battling relegation.
This season in particular has proven to be a great one on an individual level for Shaqiri, breaking his own Premier League scoring record with seven strikes, as well as setting up six more goals for his teammates. He's 26, approaching the peak years of his career, and could do a great job for a better side.
