http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7UPkKq1fO8 Jordan's first appearance on the list is pretty special. During All-Star Weekend in 1997, the Atlanta Hawk's Mutombo was bragging to Jordan and the dressing room that in his six years in the league, Jordan had never dunked on him. Not a very good idea. Michael Jordan is not only the greatest basketball player of all time, he's insanely competitive. Bragging to him about something he hasn't done, something that would embarrass you personally, he might just take that as a challenge. Later that season, Michael finally climbed "Mountain Mutombo" before giving him a taste of his own, signature, finger-wagging gesture.
11. Vince Carter Goes Way Over Mutombo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5E0sVjZWic Sorry about the back-to-back humiliation, Dikembe Mutombo, but this Vince Carter slam is just too good. Carter's finest days were in a Toronto Raptors' uniform, as he took to league by storm with his fierce dunking ability. Rarely have we seen guys capable of getting up so high, and throwing it down with such force. In February 1999, Carter showed what he was capable of against Mutombo. Dikembe Mutombo was already a three time Defensive Player of the Year, and a three time NBA blocks leader, when Vince Carter decided to take him down a peg or two. Mutombo recovered though, winning Defensive Player of the Year again in 2001. He'd probably trade that accolade to get off this poster.
