Arsenal Transfers: 10 Players Wenger Must Buy To Catch City

9. Alan Dzagoev

Arsenal suffer the same problems season in season out, the worst of which is the inevitable mid-winter injury crisis which usually leads to any hopes of a title being scuppered early on. A lack of quality on the Arsenal bench means that, in such times, the Gunners usually turn to unproven youngsters or dismally incompetent squad players who have no impact whatsoever. 22-year-old Alan Dzagoev could be the solution to this issue and prove to be the difference in a title race with Manchester City next season. The young Russian starlet is tipped to achieve great things in the future, and his three sparkling performances at Euro 2012 have led to him becoming the new €˜Golden Boy€™ of Russian football. He scored three goals in those three appearances at the Euros, which still makes him the joint top scorer of the competition heading into Sunday€™s final, despite Russia€™s exit at the group stage. Dzagoev offers creativity from an attacking midfield role, as well as being a very proficient goal-scoring winger. He would provide valuable cover for Wilshere and Arteta in the centre of the pitch, as well as genuine competition for a place in the starting 11 for Theo Walcott and Gervinho on the wings. His main attributes are good vision and a range of passing, as well as decent pace and clinical finishing in high-pressure situations.
