Steve McClaren is now settling into life at St James' Park after been named as Newcastle United's latest head coach. Sacked by Derby County last month, the former England and Middlesbrough boss has been offered an immediate return to football with the Magpies and he has been given a clean slate from which to work. With his own backroom staff in alongside him, McClaren will also be allowed to shape the Newcastle squad however he sees fit, although recruitment will be led by chief scout Graham Carr. Magpies owner Mike Ashley and managing director Lee Charnley have placed their complete faith in McClaren, believing he can lead the Magpies forward and avoid a repeat of the relegation scrap they were dragged into during the 2014-15 season.
