For Sunderland, Lee Cattermole is fighting to be back in the starting line up after recovering from his hamstring knock and could be in contention. Nicklas Bendtner has got over his knock and his back in training but obviously as he is on-loan from the Gunners he is ineligible to play against his parent club. Wes Brown (knee), Titus Bramble (achilles/calf) and David Vaughn (ankle) are still sidelined for Martin O'Neill's men. For Arsenal, centre back pairings Laurent Koscielny (knee) and Per Mertesacker are out, the latter suffering an ankle knock this week in the defeat to AC Milan that could keep him out for a lengthy spell. Gervinho has returned from the African Cup of Nations duty and could play. Arsene Wenger still is unable to call upon Andre Santos (ankle), Abou Diaby (hamstring), Jack Wilshere (ankle) and Carl Jenkinson (back) who are all still missing through injury. Striker Thierry Henry, who got the late winning goal against Sunderland in the league fixture last Saturday has flown back to the New York Red Bulls.
