20 Things You Somehow Missed In Andor

18. Various Writers And Directors Were Involved Before Tony Gilroy Came Aboard

Tony Gilroy is one of the most influential creative voices in contemporary Star Wars lore. While his corner of the franchise is small compared to the likes of Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, the Bourne trilogy writer has done a remarkable world of fleshing out the era just before the events of A New Hope.

This makes it all the more surprising (to a degree) that he was not significantly involved in the Rogue One spin-off during its development. Initially, Stephen Schiff (of True Crimes and The Americans fame) served as the first showrunner from 2018 to 2020 before being officially replaced by Gilroy.

On the directorial side of things, Rick Famuyiwa (The Mandalorian) was a potential candidate to helm several episodes in 2019 before various production delays and pandemic restrictions brought Toby Haynes (Black Mirror, Sherlock) into the fold.
