6. Bele And Lokai

The tragedy of Cheron is such that it spans millennia. Bele's obsessive hunt for Lokai takes him through fifty thousand years, with both men lost to their racially charged hatred. Their rendezvous aboard the Enterprise may still be but a breather in their eternal battle.

Cheron was once home to a thriving humanoid civilisation. The natives' obsessions with skin colour eventually destroyed the world. The Enterprise, scanning from orbit, detects innumerable unburied corpses littering the crumbling cities, thus creating a chilling tomb for Cheron.

Bele and Lokai were last seen beaming down to the planet, seemingly as unable to stop their age-old war as ever. They may still be alive in the time of Discovery, provided they didn't murder each other. Regardless of their state, they are the last monuments to the futility of racial hatred.
