10 80s TV Shows We Want To See Revived

2. Cheers

In a lot of ways, Cheers is the precursor to a lot of subsequent sitcoms that feature a large ensemble cast in a unique environment. It inspired its own spinoff, Frasier, which let us revisit almost all of the original characters until ending 2004. For years, Cheers was the most-watched show in the United States, earning it a place as one of the most successful sitcoms of all time. The show was about a group of friends, young and old, who frequent the bar "Cheers" in Boston. The show was also famous for its tagline, "Where Everybody Knows Your Name." WHY WE WANT IT BACK For one thing, reviving this show would be incredibly easy, seeing as it centered around a location, not just characters. The old gang may not get fully back together, but a new cast could fill the shoes of their predecessors in the iconic bar. What we really want, ultimately, is a show that brings back the fun of keeping up with a serialised sitcom, which is what Cheers practically invented. If you missed a few episodes, you'd have to wait for the reruns to catch up. Nowadays, a lot of shows borrow that formula to a degree, but Cheers is still celebrated as one of the best comedies in television history, if not the best.
