4. John C. McGinley - Scrubs
When it first aired in 2001, Scrubs looked promising. Back then it was about how hard it is to be a new doctor; nowadays it's a weirdly over-done study of bromances and kooky relationships and hero-worship and "funny" daydreams and whatever else. Please. John C. McGinley's character, Dr. Cox, is the clichéd gruff hard-man roaming the halls with "no emotions" and a hard-line attitude, who's full of problems that he'll never tell (except they surface and are discussed ALL THE TIME). As an actor, McGinley does what he can with the role, but we know he can do more. Earlier in his career he featured in stuff like the much-loved Platoon, the hilariously irreverent Office Space, and even appeared in Se7en, David Fincher's dark analysis of the seven deadly sins. With the original Scrubs narrative finished, we haven't seen that much of the guy; but we want to see more. Come back, John.
