10 Actors You Didn't Realise Were In Star Wars: The Clone Wars

1. David Tennant (Huyang)

Dare we discuss The Doctor himself, or at least one generation of him, in the same sentence as Star Wars? Dare we combine two of the earth's largest fandoms into one beautiful thing? We don't have to dare, The Clone Wars team already did. David Tennant is everywhere in nerd lives, known best for his roles in Doctor Who, Harry Potter, theatre, and as a voice actor. Let me be perfectly clear on one thing: David Tennant's performance as the ancient Jedi-owned and operated droid was one of the best performances in all of Star Wars, and certainly in the animated show itself. In fact, it was so stellar that Tennant won an Emmy for his guest appearances for Best Performer in an Animated Role. His award tells no false truths €“ Tennant earned his recognition justly, as he played Huyang with a professionalism and preciseness that is often never found in animated features. Huyang can be found in three episodes of The Clone Wars season five, although he spends an entire episode as a mute droid with no dialogue. His role in the story is to teach a handful of unique youngling Jedi how to construct a lightsaber, but his duty of teacher expands when their ship is boarded by pirates, and they are captured and kidnapped along with Ahsoka. To sum up Huyang is to call him the superior version of C-3P0, or at least the best version of him since the original trilogy personality. Then there's that Huyang is brave, can fight if necessary, and shows a sense of responsibility. His attributes come together to present one of the most stellar, and little-known Star Wars characters. And if you have yet to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars, be sure to check back on Netflix this Friday March 7th for all 121 episodes, plus the feature length movie.

Hey there, I'm Joseph, a college student, and a huge fan of a variety of nerdy stuff. Ultimately I'm a big-time Star Wars fanboy, and an avid Nintendo fan. Some of my favorite video games of all time include Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Paper Mario series, and Metroid Prime, but I am known to greatly enjoy other games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Halo. Star Wars is my obsession, and I'm a massive Clone Wars fan and will never overcome Disney's cancellation of the series. I'm thrilled to write for What Culture, and I hope you all enjoy my articles!
