10 Actors Who Should Be The Next Doctor Who Companion
5. Alfie Enoch
File Alfie Enoch under the same heading as Harry Melling. None of us are quite strong enough to resist the idea of having the son of William Russell back on the show, the man who played one of the very first companions, Ian Chesterton. Alfie has been acting since he was a child, most notably playing Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter films. Over the years, he has grown into a strapping young man, with the physicality that would serve him well with one of the oldest actors ever to play the Doctor. Just as his father was used as the action hero counterpart to the frail William Hartnell, Enoch could take some of the pressure off of Peter Capaldi during the rigors of filming one of the most demanding shoots in television (although admittedly Capaldi is in better shape than a lot of guys half his age). Right now, he's appearing on the American television show How to Get Away With Murder, alongside Oscar nominee Viola Davis, which is getting a tremendous amount of early buzz. Now that he's proven that he has a career beyond the Harry Potter universe, it's time for him to continue looking forward. And what better way to cement yourself as one of Britain's most promising young actors than to take a starring role in one of the biggest television shows right now?
