Jay Johnston was only known to the FBI as no. 247 until a former castmate identified him on Twitter as the man behind a camouflage-print bandanna in a picture that the FBI circulated.

The agency wanted him for questioning in connection with the January 6 riot at the US Capitol where a bunch of protesters stormed the building in an effort to stop the certification of 2020 presidential election results. Johnston was allegedly among them.

Johnston has voiced Jimmy Pesto Sr. on the Fox animated sitcom, Bob’s Burgers, for 11 seasons since it premiered in 2011. However the actor has been conspicuously absent from the 12th season which premiered in September 2021. Both Disney and Fox have refused to comment on Johnston's absence from Bob's Burgers.

Reporting from the Daily Beast though says the actor has been banned from the show because of his alleged participation in the Capitol riot. Johnston himself hasn’t commented on the matter. He has not been arrested or charged with anything.
