10 Awesome TV Shows Still To Return In 2016

7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Ghost Rider New Girl Negan
Fox

We might be in a Golden Age of TV, but it's not exactly the case for sitcoms. There are some hilarious ones out there, but more likely on premium channels or streaming services (the likes of Silicon Valley and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, for example). In network terms, it's a far cry from the days of Friends, Frasier, and Seinfeld.

So many promising new comedies debut every year, but few truly succeed, so it's worth sticking with the one that does. And perhaps the best example of that from the last few years is Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which delivers a per-episode gag-rate up there with the very best of 'em.

Looking ahead to the new season, the most exciting development is that Holt and Perlata have joined the witness protection programme, and we're going to be seeing them living their new lives as Larry and Greg in Florida, which should produce hilarious results. Throw in the strain this'll put on Jake and Amy's relationship, and Boyle adopting a baby, and all the makings are there for another funny and weird season at the 99.

Oh, and if that's not interesting enough, there's that crossover with New Girl to look forward to...
