10 Awesome TV Shows Still To Return In 2016

3. The Flash

The Flash Barry Wally Kid Flash Flashpoint
The CW

Season 1 of The Flash was a breath of fresh air in the superhero TV world. When everyone else was going dark and grounded, here was a show that wore its comic colours proudly, and was an unashamedly fun series. It combined that with high personal stakes, a winning cast, and a truly threatening and captivating villain. Season 2 didn't quite match that, bogged down with Legends of Tomorrow setup and a lacklustre villain, but it did do one big thing: in the season finale, Barry went into the past and saved his mother, thus rewriting history and creating the Flashpoint Paradox.

It means when Season 3 gets underway things are going to be looking pretty different: the hero of Central City will be Wally West/Kid Flash, Cisco's a billionaire, Barry's parents are both alive, and he never grew up with Joe and Iris. Then there's the additions of some exciting new villains, with dual Big Bads Savitar and Dr. Alchemy set to pose a major threat to Barry, and the arrival of Tom Felton's Julian Dorn to shake things up even further. The Flash is ready to get back on track, and should hit the ground running.

Air Date: October 4.
