10 Behind The Scenes Dramas That Ruined Great TV Shows
1. Community - Public Feud
Once again, egos got in the way of a good show. When Dan Harmon cast comedy legend Chevy Chase in his up-and-coming sitcom Community, he must have been floating on air. Unfortunately, the apparent-dream Chevy Chase became a living nightmare.
Chase was a huge diva who constantly complained about working on the show because of its long hours, writing, and how he felt that his character was unrealistic and intolerable (even though it was based entirely on him, but whatever). And after ruining the filming of the season 3 finale, Harmon had had enough of Chase's diva antics.
At the wrap party for season 3, Harmon got on stage and completely annihilated the comedy genius in a tasteless speech that cumulated in the showrunner leading the party in a chant against Chevy Chace in front of the actor's family. That wasn't the end of this, however, as this led Chace to send a brutal voicemail to Harmon. Who then, get this, played the voicemail on his podcast.
Harmon was subsequently fired from the show and two new guys were brought in to run the show. What followed was one of the worst seasons of a famous sitcom ever. Season four is notoriously hated within the Community... for lack of a better word, community. The season was so bad that the star of the show himself, Joel McHale, campaigned successfully to get Harmon back.
Thank god he did, because fans are still washing out their eyeballs because of the horrific-ness that was season 4.
