10 Best Animated Fantasy TV Shows Of All Time
6. Castlevania
It was only a matter of time before vampires made their way into this list. And who better to grace us than the original blood sucker himself, Count Dracula. Netflix’s adaptation of the long running video game franchise served up healthy doses of violence, death and, as always, superstition driving humans to commit horrendous actions.
Incensed at the death of his beloved wife at the hands of the church, who burned her at the stake on accusations of witchcraft, Dracula goes on the warpath. He vows death for every human living in the nation of Wallachia and summons a hoard of murderous demons to carry out his plan. Cue the monster hunter.
Opposing Dracula and his rampage is the last surviving member of the banished monster hunter Belmont family, Trevor Belmont. He is also joined by magician Sypha Belnades and Dracula’s own son Alucard. The show goes far beyond the conventional tropes of violence and bloodshed and delivers a deep, thought provoking narrative of how the most nightmarish of evils are in fact birthed by humans.
