6. Lee Speaks In Gaius' Trial

Lee Adama admittedly may be one of the more boring characters from Battlestar Galactica. This incredibly straightlaced flyboy follows orders unwaveringly from any authority figure and often tries to do "what's right" no matter what.

So it always comes as a welcome shock when Lee decides to let loose his anger and passion hidden just beneath his buttoned-up shirts, as was the case during a stunning monologue he gave during the trial of Gaius Baltar.

During the trial, many people were brought to the stand to choose their allegiances. Each character either chose to follow the rule of law or tried to make themselves look better in front of the people by standing against Gaius Baltar for allowing the Cylons to take over New Caprica.

Yet when Lee Adama was brought to the stage he decided not to speak against Gaius, instead, he spoke out against the people of the fleet. Lee finally showed a true passion in an unbroken monologue about the choices humanity has made ever since leaving the twelve colonies, the crimes even he himself had committed, and was ultimately forgiven for.

Lee's monologue was interesting in not only pointing out the hypocrisy of humanity's survival but of the rules and laws they have made up along the way. Lee ended his speech by saying that in the end the whole trial simply happened because people didn't like Gaius Baltar, not because he did anything that was actually wrong or even illegal, a statement that is still fun to think about years after the episode's debut.
