The demons in the Bad Place must start the simulation over, and as a result, they have to reboot Janet. Every time that happens, she's a little more advanced than before.

She starts to change in small ways, like developing romantic feelings and gaining the ability to lie. When her only love Jason Mendoza falls for someone else, Janet knows she has to operate normally. These feelings lead to some malfunctions in her system, creating odd occurrences in the town. To cope, Janet goes as far as creating a rebound partner but learns from her friends that being sad is okay.

One of the most impressive things Janet accomplished was convincing Bad Janet to change her ways - giving audiences a heartbreaking scene where Bad Janet sacrifices herself to save everyone.

Though it's sad to see she’s left alone to manage the afterlife simulation for the rest of eternity, having watched Janet grow was incredibly satisfying.
