6. Game Of Thrones, Season 5 - HBO
Game of Thrones is still HBO's bell-cow, with lavish set designs and epic scope that rivals most blockbuster movies. Season 5 saw the show continue to drift further and further away from its source material, the books written by George R.R. Martin. We are now left at a point where book readers and show viewers have caught up with each other, and Season 6 will be uncharted territory. Some of the major departures from the source material included an epic battle that came almost literally out of nowhere in the episode "Hardhome," and brought about some more questions about the lore of the Game of Thrones world. The season finale, "Mother's Mercy," left almost every character with a cliffhanger ending that is making our mouths water waiting for the next season. While not on par with previous seasons, with few episodes that
rank among the best of the series, Season 5 of Game of Thrones still stands up among the best shows on television today.
