Much like The Walking Dead, Homeland started on fire, winning multiple Emmy awards, before hitting a creative swoon and then recovering. The producers of the show figured out that the true draw of the show was the espionage, and not Carrie Matheson's (played by Claire Danes) love life. Season 5 takes place in Berlin, Germany, with Carrie out of the CIA. It features computer hackers, a mole in the agency, a terrorist plot, a government overthrow attempt, an exploding plane, and an undercover infiltration of a sleeper cell. Homeland went back to its roots that once again make it the spiritual successor to Fox's show 24. It's a triumphant return to form.
