The Doctor and Clara land on the Orient Express, or rather a version of the famous train that travels through space. They quickly learn that an old legend called the Foretold is aboard. Visible only to its victims, this ancient mummy kills in a mere 66 seconds - and its presence on the train isn’t a coincidence.

There is a wonderful murder-mystery vibe to this episode, thanks to the setting of the Orient Express, which allows everyone to dress in period costume. Meanwhile the actual mummy, or Foretold, looks brilliant with its hanging bandages and empty black eyes. It’s one of the most beautiful and realistic looking monsters in NuWho. There’s also added tension with the countdown clock, and from the Doctor himself. Who is darker, and seemingly more callous at this point in the series, leaving Clara and the audience unsure whether to trust him.
