On the planet Midnight, the Doctor decides to take a trip to see the local sapphire falls via a shuttle bus. A few hours into the journey however, the shuttle is attacked by an unseen force, that seems to possess one of the passengers. Hysteria quickly spreads amongst the survivors, and soon the Doctor is losing control of the situation. Can he keep everyone alive?

The episode is psychologically terrifying, not only because the threat is invisible and never fully understood, but because the passengers become just as scary as the monster. Once the creature has possessed its victim, the passengers quickly decide they have to throw it and its host out, effectively killing an innocent person. It’s an awful scenario. While their fear is relatable, to see people turn to murder so quickly is scary - in part because it is so believable in the situation. This is all made worse as the Doctor, our hero, fails to dissuade them and is in fact turned on by the very people he wants to help.
