10 Best Only Fools And Horses Episodes
4. Yuppy Love
Starting with the sixth series, there came a precedent that every action would have a consequence, and no episode signified that more than the first episode of the new season entitled Yuppy Love.
In this episode, Rodney meets Cassandra for the first time at evening class and tries to get to know her better but is blocked by Del's childish exploits. Derek himself, meanwhile, is fully embracing the yuppy lifestyle the only way he knows how; by forcing his way into wine bars and wearing red braces.
As mentioned before, every action has an equal or opposite reaction (thanks Newton!), each producing a bigger laugh than the next. But the biggest laugh of the episode is one no-one saw coming: the legardary fall through the bar. It's totally unexpected, the deadpan slipstick is spot on, and Trigger's reaction to his friend disappearing is classic. The physical comedy was never better than this moment.
The episode also did brilliantly setting up future events; as previously mentioned, series six introduced the overarching narrative and Cassandra's role in the show would only become more important over time. But for an introduction and as an episode in general, it's easily one of the funniest, if not the best.
