7. Anna Gunn - Skyler White

You hate Skyler White, right? She's the worst character in Breaking Bad, yeah? Well, there's a pretty big reason for that - the performance by Anna Gunn.

In hindsight, Skyler is nothing like the monster she was painted as around the show's initial run. She was a scapegoat, painted as a sort of secondary antagonist because of her position relative to Walter White, who could do no wrong. Considered reappraisal of her character reveals and entirely different picture. But the fact that we were all duped is down to how great Gunn was.

Skyler is a deeply complex character and watching her reactions as the truth of her husband is peeled back is incredibly compelling. Watch her during Walter's "I am the one who knocks" moment and the subtlety of her performance, which was largely overlooked at times because of the power of her character elsewhere, is really something to behold.
