10 Best Performances In Breaking Bad
6. Raymond Cruz - Tuco Salamanca
Both of the Salamancas were great, but Hector's performance was limited by his situation. Still, watching him get his moment over Gus Frings was absolutely incredible and the delight we all felt in such a grim moment was down to Mark Margolis (a performance he was rightly nominated for).
His nephew Tuco - played by Raymond Cruz - is arguably even better, though he has WAY more to do in his role, which might be one of the most charitable in the whole show. He's essentially Breaking Bad's answer to Tommy DeVito from Goodfellas - a volatile Rottweiler who has made his way to the top of his game thanks to his violence and his complete disregard for consequences.
Cruz turns Tuco into a hair-trigger hand grenade who is as deeply uncomfortable to watch as he is utterly compelling. You can never tell where he's going to go next and there's a physicality to the performance that makes him seem way larger than his actual frame.
