An acronym for Alien Life Form, this sarcastic and furry little being was the star of the hit sitcom which ran for four seasons in the second half of the 1980s. It follows the adventures of Alf, who crash-lands into the garage of the Tanners, a suburban American family. The family take the alien under their wing and hide him from the military until he can repair his spacecraft.
Almost the TV equivalent of E.T. in many ways, this family favourite won numerous awards in the US and led to an animated prequel set on Alf's homeworld of Melmac, as well as a TV film and a spin-off talk show.
