10 Best Single Horror TV Seasons Ever

2. The Haunting Of Hill House

In terms of single-season stories, few slices of horror television have ever been as consistently brilliant - and obvs terrifying - as The Haunting of Hill House.

Sure, Hill House was followed up by The Haunting of Bly Manor, but despite featuring many of the same cast, Bly Manor was an entirely different story featuring entirely different characters. Whilst being decent, Bly Manor didn't quite manage to truly hit the levels of its predecessor - but man, what a standard Hill House set.

Set in two different timelines, The Haunting of Hill House revolved around the Crain family, their time previously spent living in the titular abode, the terrors experienced during that time, and the long-lasting impact Hill House still has on them 26 years later.

This Mike Flanagan-created show - itself loosely adapted from Shirley Jackson's novel of the same name - is everything that you want from a horror series. There's no lag here, with all ten episodes bringing new information and new twists to the table, and The Haunting of Hill House has some scares that are genuinely amongst the most jarring and chilling in the history of horror TV.

The Haunting of Hill House is thoughtful, stylish, delicate horror at its flawless best.
