10 Best Superhero TV Shows Of 2018 (So Far)
2. Gotham
Gotham has never shied away from taking risks, and for that reason, it has always been consistently crazy. But this year, the show pulled out all the stops and delivered some of its most ambitious storylines yet. As a result, it became one of the most consistent (and downright entertaining) shows on television.
Tackling major storylines like the birth of the Joker and adapting iconic comic book arcs like Batman: No Man's Land, Gotham produced some of its finest work yet this year. Bruce Wayne's internal conflict was mirrored on the streets of Gotham through the chaos that both Ra's Al Ghul and the Valeskas unleashed, which shone the spotlight on the show's rich ensemble of characters. As a result, the season was riddled (pun very much intended) with faultless performances from the likes of David Mazouz, Ben McKenzie, Morena Baccarin, Cory Michael Smith, Robin Lord Taylor and the laughing man himself Cameron Monaghan.
The show has received criticism in the past for its crazy reinvention of the Batman mythology. But this year, it embraced what it truly was by pulling off a remarkable twist that few of us saw coming. And thus, this Elseworlds-like tale ended up becoming the most gripping superhero show of the year.
