10 Best TV Bromances Ever

Here's one for all the bromantics out there.

Everybody who is lucky enough to have a real bromance in their life will tell that it’s a very special bond. Sure, relationships with your significant others are great, and family ties are great, but having that one bro that is always there for you, even if just to laugh at a stupid inside joke that only you two get, is an irreplaceable thing.

That is why TV shows that have a bromance element in them often have that special extra dimension. Just two guys who are occasionally off on their own little adventures, away from the rest of the main cast, can make for great comedy. This sort of dynamic requires great chemistry between the actors and some quality writing, but when done properly, it can add a lot to a show.

Historically, male friendships haven’t been depicted on television that well or that often. There was a time when men weren’t supposed to show a lot of emotion, so all of their friendships were portrayed superficially. You won’t find many good bromances in shows from the '50s or the '60s.

Fortunately, things have changed and TV has evolved for the better. The characters we see now are much more realistic and we’ve been blessed with many wholesome bromances in the past few decades. This is a list of ten of our favourites.

10. Lenny & Carl - The Simpsons

If you think about it really hard, in all of the seasons of The Simpsons, in all of the episodes, have you ever seen one without the other? They might as well be joined at the hip.

Even though it is one of the longest-standing bromances in TV history, it felt like a bit of a cheat to include it in this list, even at the lowest spot. The reason why is because it has been alluded throughout the run of The Simpsons, and especially in the later seasons, that Lenny and Carl might be a closeted gay couple. There are many examples of this in the show, although they might be intentional jokes by the writers.

Nevertheless, since they are officially nothing more than bros, they deserve to be included here on that basis. And what a bromance it is! Even though they bicker occasionally or have the odd passive-aggressive comment, Lenny and Carl have managed to make it for over two decades.

They are so close that Carl sang The Best Is Yet to Come at Lenny's wedding, and Lenny once published a wholesome article in the newspaper titled The Truth About Carl: He's Great.
