10 Best TV Episodes Of 2019

2. Episode 6 - Fleabag

Fleabag Season 2
Amazon

Fleabag is perhaps the most important TV show of 2019, sweeping the Emmys and causing huge upsets, and it's all for good reason. Phoebe Waller-Bridge's dramedy improved on its already stellar first season with a new batch of episodes, each one building to this incredible series finale.

Fleabag has always been deeply self-deprecating and funny, but it's all to hide a deep sense of tragedy and loss. The title character's relationship with her family, her friends, and most importantly herself has always been destructive, but the final episode sees her finally taking responsibility for this.

Season 2 also brought the fourth wall crashing down by actually acknowledging the to-camera cutaways that gave the show such a unique identity in its early days.

That sub-plot climaxes in one of the most stirking final scenes in TV history as Fleabag waves goodbye to the audience she's used as a crutch to avoid reality for so long, and it's all bolstered by an episode that emotionally gives the audience the catharsis of reunion and reconciliation, without losing that classic Fleabag charm.
