10 Big Time Actors Who Are Way Better On TV
6. Bryan Cranston
Bryan Cranston is perhaps the most glaringly obvious choice on this list. He has built a nice little career as a character actor on screen, but, then again, there was this small matter of a chemistry teacher cooking crystal meth...
On The Big Screen:
Cranston has lent his considerable talents to the screen plenty of times. As Shannon in the excellent Drive, he's a gnarly car mechanic with a heart of gold. What little screen time he has, gives him the chance to coax a brotherly soul out of Ryan Gosling's hero.
In Argo, Cranston gives us a great turn as Jack O'Donnell: a good man under duress, he's delightfully combustable as a cornered boss to Affleck, prowling around the offices and doing everything he can to re-authorise the Iranian mission from afar.
In Your Living Room:
Cranston used to be famous for being Malcolm's Dad in Malcolm In The Middle. Goofy, kind, and flustered, he was a very watchable man, but, then again when it comes to watchability, there's one of his for the ages: Walter White.
Such depth of character has been achieved before and after Breaking Bad, but few have succeeded on such a global scale. What a gift of a character for an actor, and what a perfect portrait by Cranston.
Best TV Moment:
"I am the one who knocks".
