10 Bold TV Predictions For 2016

9. ABC's The Muppets Is Going To Radically Change

A TV show about The Muppets...what could possibly go wrong? After 2011's brilliant The Muppets (starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams), it seemed audiences were finally ready to embrace the little colourful felt puppets once more. Heck, the film even won the Academy Award for Best Original Song with Bret McKenzie's Man Or Muppet. Though 2014's Muppets Most Wanted didn't fare quite as well, it's clear there was still an appetite for the characters. When ABC announced they were doing an The Office-esque Muppets show, then, people were excited. It seemed a great fit for the characters, with a ton of humorous potential. Sadly, the show has alienated audiences, who dislike the show's cynicism (practically the antithesis of everything The Muppets stands for) and frequently disheartened characters. But things are going to change in 2016. Though the first ten episodes have aired, the show is on a brief hiatus before the final six show up. During that hiatus, the main show-runner Bob Kushell stepped down and was replaced by Kristin Newman (of How I Met Your Mother and That '70s Show fame). When the show returns in February, then, expect to see some serious changes. The show will be more upbeat and light-hearted. There will probably be meta references to the whole situation, too. And Kermit will definitely not describe his life as a €œbacon-wrapped hell€ (seriously, that actually happened).
